The Orchestra -

The Nova Foresta Classical Players is a professional concert orchestra , based in the New Forest. The group was founded in 2017 by Philip Daish-Handy and Martin Penrose and specialise in music from the Baroque, Classical and Romantic Eras; in particular, the music of Sir Edward Elgar. This year, 'Nova' have been fast gaining recognition as a musical force to be reckoned with and are frequently performing to sell out crowds. ‘Nova’ not only wish to bring great music to everyone, but to also provide a platform for the young musicians of the future.

Principal Guest Conductor - 

Paul Ingram studied at the Universities of Southampton and Leicester, reading Music and Management respectively. He began conducting in 1995, working with the Southampton University Symphony, Pre-Term and Chamber Orchestras. In 1997, Paul founded the Southampton University Sinfonietta and remained Music Director until 2004. In 1999, he reached the final of the British Reserve Insurance Conducting Competition and has been Music Director of Southampton Concert Orchestra since 2001 and the chamber orchestra Per Piacere from 2007 to 2017. Paul is Principal Guest Conductor of the Nova Foresta Classical Players.

Artistic Director - 

The dynamic English cellist/conductor  Philip Daish-Handy has entertained audiences across the world. Known for his musicianship and projection, Philip came to prominence after winning the prestigious Music at Beaulieu Competition in 2005.  Philip then went on to win the prestigious Symphony Hall Recital Prize in 2010. As a solo artist, Philip has played all the major concertos with orchestras throughout the UK.  Recently Philip has released two encore CDs with Martin Penrose and a celebrated rendition of the Elgar Cello Concerto. Philip regularly performs as a soloist for the P&O and Cunard Lines. He holds several important teaching positions for the West Berkshire Cello Academy, the National Chamber Music Course  and is Artistic Director of the Nova Foresta Classical Players.
